Hey travellers out there 🙂 From Malaysia we just hopped onto a bus and within a 6 hours drive including all the immigration stuff, we finally reached beautiful Singapore!
When we arrived, we just checked in to our great hotel – Hotel Mi – and because we were really hungry, we just took a short shower and went off to Orchard road, where lots of restaurants and i think millions of shopping centers are located.
Luckily our hotel was the perfect location for taking the Metro, coz the Bencoolen station was directly in front of the hotel entrance. After ending your shopping trip at 11.30pm it’s a great thing just to jump into the train and be home pretty quick.
Our second day we started with a workout at the small fitness center of Hotel Mi, followed by a delicious breakfast. Then we just started our city exploring day number one and decided not to take a metro this day. We just walked the whole day, explored Chinatownn, Clarks Quay, Marina Bay and all the things on the way 😀 After 20 km of walking, we met an old friend – Luki it was a pleasure to see you – and started a pretty quick walk home coz it started to rain 😀
We were pretty tired after this walk but Singapore has so much to show and so we just took a quick shower, had a Vietnamese soup at food republic and made our way to Gardens by the bay to see the beautiful light show. This was one of Bina’s absolute favourites <3 SOOOOO THIS IS A MUST SEE!!! We spent our night exploring a bit more of this beautiful garden area and immediately fell asleep when we arrived back at the hotel.
Next morning it was time for a morning swim in the refreshing pool of Hotel MI, then exploring Little India and having lunch there. It was a really hot day so we just got back to the pool afterwards and chilled there till we had to get ready for our afternoon plan 😀 A BEERTASTING at the world’s highest urban brewery on the 33th Level of MBFC Tower – LEVEL 33
Because all the tanks are imported from our home country AUSTRIA, we wanted to share what we tasted:
litre taster of five LeVeL33 craft brews at $23.33 (Listed below in order of presentation on the paddle)
- Blond Lager
Crafted from the original 1841 Vienna Blond Lager, this refreshing 33.1 Blond Lager with a slight hint of fruit pours to a smooth sunshine gold hue.
- India Pale Ale
Brewed since the late 1700s IPA contains a substantial amount of hops that acted as a natural preservative of the beer quality during the long journey to the English troops in India.
- Blanche (current seasonal beer)
The most popular beer style around Brussels in the 17th and 18th century nearly became extinct due to wheat rations during the two world wars and increasing popularity of lager beers. Our Brewmaster, Gabriel Garcia, has brewed the LeVeL33 batch with unmalted wheat, normal wheat, oats, 1 kg of coriander seeds and 500grams of orange peel. This cloudy took only three weeks to brew!
- Wheat Beer
Also known as Weissbier or Weizenbier, this golden beer has been brewed in Bavaria since the 16th century. Using malted wheat and special strains of top fermenting yeast, the 33.9 Wheat Beer is rich in flavor with hints of banana.
A rediscovery of the original Irish stout crafted using the authentic brewing principles from Ireland, the full-bodied 33.3 Stout is flavorful and silky with a sweet roasty aftertaste.
We also had the:
- Sizzler Beef Black Angus, wasabi, soy $20.50
- Halloumi Sizzler, Sheep cheese, garlic salt, lemon $16.00
- Dory, Bite sized Dory tempura served on fat cut potato, citurs skin, tartar sauce $12.00
We spent an amazing evening there with Wani and Marting and to both of them: BIG THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, it was so great to meat you and we hope to meet you again soon.
Our next day was already the last one we had here in Singapore and we decided to end it with another amazing view (we even could see the brewery from the day before haha). We had lunch on the 70th floor of the Equinox Complex. Restaurant JAAN is definitely the perfect place for an outstanding food experience with just breathtaking city views for making you even more sad that you have to leave this great city the next day.
Kirk Westerwood, the chef of the kitchen was just so passionate about his food and shared the stories of how the dishes were created. We loved the one with the Eggs in an Egg dish (a MUST TRY…. soooo delicious) where he said it took him more than a month of failure till this dish was as perfect as it is now.
We spent about three hours eating here haha and were so full afterwards, that we just relaxed at the pool for a while until we started our last city exploring tour, that leaded us again to Gardens by the bay <3
At 10 pm we just jumped into the Metro with all our things and made our way to the Airport.
Thank you Singapore for hosting us!!! We will for sure come back!!
